From a well-traveled production vehicle to a bold new campus showcase
Middle Tennessee State University’s Mobile Production Lab has supported hands-on learning and live productions for more than 15 years. After years of service, the Freightliner needed extensive exterior restoration and updated branding to represent MTSU’s Scott Borchetta College of Media and Entertainment.
Our team completed a comprehensive transformation—from removing the aging graphics and repairing damaged surfaces to refinishing the vehicle and installing its vibrant new design.
The Restoration Process
The project began with the complete removal of the vehicle’s original vinyl graphics, lettering, and legacy logos. Once the exterior was stripped, we carefully inspected the cab and production box for oxidation, rust, dents, and other surface damage.
Areas of active rust—particularly around the seams and drip rails—were mechanically cleaned and treated to help prevent corrosion from returning. The entire vehicle was then sanded and prepared to create a smooth, durable foundation for the new finish.
A corrosion-resistant epoxy primer and professional-grade polyurethane coating restored the exterior and provided a uniform base for the new graphics.
A Fresh Look for the Mobile Production Lab
The completed design features a vivid royal-blue gradient with concentric “signal wave” graphics, reflecting the Mobile Production Lab’s role in broadcasting, media, and live production.
Updated branding for the Scott Borchetta College of Media and Entertainment now appears prominently across the vehicle, along with Mobile Production Lab identification and a refreshed MTSU logo on the cab air deflector.
The result is a clean, modern, high-impact design built to represent Middle Tennessee State University wherever the Mobile Production Lab travels.
Built for the Road Ahead
This project was about more than changing the appearance of a vehicle. It restored and protected an important educational resource while giving it a bold new identity worthy of the students, faculty, and productions it supports.
The newly completed Mobile Production Lab is ready for its next chapter—looking better than ever and proudly representing MTSU’s Scott Borchetta College of Media and Entertainment.
